The main problem with the horse limber is the size of the team.

8 horses will require at least 6-inch base just for the horses in 20 mm, plus the cart (with shaft); and when you hitch the howitzer to the back we are starting to look at 10 inches!Looks very nice, but impractical for gaming purposes. (Using the crash fire rule does appeal to my gaming sense.) I have seen some great dioramas using the Revell sets.

Having great fun building and painting them none the less. I can't see myself fielding too many of these. Halftracks will probably be easier (though in most cases historically inaccurate)Herman van Kradenburghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02436600778513944817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2416401460350839678.post-70450541808869764642013-06-18T17:58:53.476-07:002013-06-18T17:58:53.476-07:00Your pics remind me I really must get some Horse d...Your pics remind me I really must get some Horse drawn limbers for my howitzers...

I recall when I painted up the howitzers, I wondered at their real range(~11000m); Chris and I worked out from Google Maps and info on wikipedia, that we could fire one from our house in P'ram and just about hit Peka Peka, or Kapiti Island!

Scaled down for our models, means our 1/100 (15mm) FoW model , would fire a round for ~110m, so that's slightly off the end of the board! ;-)Scottswargaminghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00581220877007982139noreply@blogger.com
